Mustang GTD: The Fastest Production Mustang Ever

The New 2025 Mustang GTD

The 2025 Mustang GTD is making headlines as the fastest and most powerful Mustang Ford has ever built. With a staggering 815 horsepower, 664 pound-feet of torque, and a top speed of 202 miles per hour, it sets a new standard for street-legal Mustangs.

Cutting-Edge Performance Features

Equipped with advanced features like active aerodynamics, carbon-ceramic brakes, and an inboard-rear suspension with semi-active dampers, the Mustang GTD is engineered to deliver a sub-seven-minute lap at the Nürburgring. These enhancements, combined with its impressive horsepower and torque, position the GTD as a game-changer in performance driving.

“We’ve been laser-focused since day one to make Mustang GTD the first-ever supercar with world-class performance and the soul of a Mustang,” said Greg Goodall, Chief Program Engineer for the Mustang GTD. “GTD’s heart is its supercharged 5.2-liter V8, packing more horsepower per liter than the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.”

Advanced Engine Design

The 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine represents a significant leap from previous Mustang engines. It features a dry-sump oil system, a first for Mustang, that ensures optimal lubrication during intense cornering. This innovation allows the engine to rev up to 7,650 RPM—100 RPM higher than the previous version. Additional tweaks, such as an improved intake and exhaust, a standard titanium exhaust, and a smaller supercharger pulley, help the engine achieve its remarkable output.

Aerodynamic Innovation for Maximum Speed

To reach its 202 mph top speed, the Mustang GTD employs a Drag Reduction System (DRS) that adjusts the rear wing angle and activates flaps under the front of the car. This system dynamically balances airflow for maximum speed or downforce, depending on driving conditions.

Greg Goodall added, “We’ve combined the work of talented engineers and designers, as well as an extremely capable driver, with Mustang GTD technology, power, and aerodynamics. We can’t wait to deliver on our sub-seven-minute promise to GTD customers.”

Ford’s all-new Mustang GTD is not just a car; it’s a testament to engineering excellence and a bold statement of performance.
